- Product - The word "ceramics" comes from the Greek word "Keramos" meaning "Pottery," "Potter's Clay," or "a Potter". They are blended with the right combination of clay, silica, and feldspar, and are fired in a red heat temperature. Commonly ceramics tiles are as defined as glazed tiles. A fine layer of pigment and color have been applied on the surface of the tiles. They are suitable for light duty usage, such as for wall decorations, bathroom floors and places where there is less heavy physical contact. Homogeneous tiles (Porcelain tiles) have pigments added into the body before the firing . They are vitrified and are subject to much higher temperatures than when producing ceramic tiles. This makes them much harder, durable and incredibly suitable for heavy duty usage. They also have a water absorption rate of less than 0.1%. |
